The Elephant in the Room (2025)

I am fascinated by the phrase, "The Elephant in the Room". It denotes something so obviously out of place, yet no one would speak about it. Perhaps it is due to the uncomfortable nature of the subject. Or maybe it is something so obvious that one feels silly having to point it out.

Of course, when there is an elephant in the room, it is best that the issue is brought out into the open and addressed. And that is the point of this art piece.

Viewers may notice that this piece has the colours of the Palestinian flag. I cannot say it was intentional but that I only realised it after the painting was done. I take it as a divine sign of maybe the largest elephant ever. So let me say it: What is happening in Gaza is wrong. Collective punishment is wrong. Targeting civilians is wrong. This is a great and obvious injustice the world must address.
